Gunmen kidnap Nigerian school girls in Borno state

On Tuesday April 16th over a 100 female students were abducted in a night raid from a secondary school in Borno state, in northeast Nigeria.

The gunmen were suspected Islamist insurgents thought to be from

Boko Haram.

Boko Haram is a Hausa word which generally means,  ”Western education is sinful”.

They ideology is to carved out a separate Islamic state in Nigeria. The rebellion has targeted schools and Christian churches as well, along with government buildings and police stations.

These attacks are often violent and end in deaths as in the bombing of a crowded bus station a little outside of the capital, Abuja, last week which killed over 70 people.

President Goodluck Jonathan suspected Boko Harm was behind the deadly bombing.

Sources say the gunmen gathered the young girls during the evening and loaded them into a truck.

The reason for the kidnapping is because Boko Haram is fighting against the government of Nigeria and want Western world influences eliminated from the way of life in Nigeria.

artikleblak prays for these innocent children’s safe return to their families.

Best regards,

Artikleblak is a panoramic color-consciousness of digital media connecting the African Diaspora throughout the world. This world is a massive environment and our images and stories and concerns are spread to sparingly throughout the planet and digital terra. People of color comprise 4/5th of the world's population. Yet we have to Google search and channel surf and scour the event calendars to find ourselves, whether it be a person, place or thing. We should nevermore let oceans, languages, religions, cultures or man-made boundaries partition us. Our humanity is to powerful to remain fragmented, lets make it ONE again. Sincere thanks, Artikleblak
