Rio Favela Sweep World Cup 2014

So the Brazilian government is in the process of “cleaning up” Complexo da Mare, ahead of football’s World Cup 2014 that takes place next June.

Mare is a favela which is home to over 130,000 residents and is located between Rio international airport and Rio de Janeiro.

The government is claiming that they are simply “improving lives” and not sweeping these residents of Rio out because of the Word Cup.

Rio cracks down on Favelas

ARTIKLE HAS BEEN TO RIO ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION AND SPENT A GOOD AMOUNT OF TIME THERE.

The sights and plights of people of color are the same across the globe!

artikle agree the favelas are a mess and something needs to be done. Why not reinvest in these communities. Why not improve public services and education?

artikle CONSIDERS ALL THIS A SMOKE SCREEN TO GET THE BLACK  AND BROWN FOLKS OUT. DEMOLISH THE COMMUNITIES  (FAVELAS) AND MOVE THE RICH PEOPLE IN, TO LIVE AND OR VACATION.

JUST A HUNCH.

I LOVE RIO AND THE PEOPLE.

BOM DIA,

About artikleblak

Artikleblak is a panoramic color-consciousness of digital media connecting the African Diaspora throughout the world. This world is a massive environment and our images and stories and concerns are spread to sparingly throughout the planet and digital terra. People of color comprise 4/5th of the world's population. Yet we have to Google search and channel surf and scour the event calendars to find ourselves, whether it be a person, place or thing. We should nevermore let oceans, languages, religions, cultures or man-made boundaries partition us. Our humanity is to powerful to remain fragmented, lets make it ONE again. Sincere thanks, Artikleblak
