A reply to my cousin: Blacks in Latin America Henry Louis Gates Jr.
I think it is the most informative documentary done to date on what Black folks in the Latin world went through. One of the most powerful aspects of this series is the resilence of our People.
I have watched Haiti/DR and Brasil and now Cuba. We are all much closer then we think. ONLY separated by oceans and languages. But the fundementals of family and culture are the same. Example: Find a video of some Brasilians practicing Capoeria and turn down volume and play it to a Miles Davis or John Coltrane track. It’s the SAME rhythm!! I guarantee it! Think about this. 35 million Black Americans + 70 million Black Brasilians + millions in Caribbean + millions more in other South, Central American countries + Mexico communicating at once. What a economic and social power house that would be!
Powerful thought…:) Be well cous..
